Humanity is currently operating at a very low level of consciousness that is propelling it headlong down a path of destruction. It is impossible to solve humanity’s greatest challenges with the same low level of consciousness that created them in the first place. Higher consciousness and universal empowerment are the core ingredients to shifting humanity from a path of destruction to a path of enlightenment.
In my previous articles here and here, I stated that many of the afflictions that are described in our Declaration of Universal Interdependence can only be solved from the vantage point of higher consciousness. In this sense, higher consciousness is the core foundation of universal empowerment - that state of existence where living your life of passion and purpose in service to the broader collective in joy, love, abundance, freedom, health and success, is the lived experience of 8 billion people on the planet.
To advance toward universal harmony, it is therefore vital to firstly understand the nature of higher consciousness, and secondly adopt the principles of higher consciousness in your daily life. This article delves into these principles and the universal truths they encompass.
The Starting Point
More and more people are contemplating the really big questions as every day goes by. What is the nature of universal consciousness? What is the meaning of life? Why does life exist at all? And what is our role in the grand design of the universe, such as it is?
Unfortunately, there are still billions of people on the planet that have either never contemplated these questions or are resolute in the idea that there is no higher purpose at all. For them, life is all about getting as much as possible for themselves during their short tenure on Earth, even if it is achieved at the expense of others. Greed, the accumulation of wealth and power, self-interest, and indifference are their tools of trade. If you are at this end of the spectrum, perhaps these writings will give you a moment of pause and trigger within you the kind of ‘holy shit’ moment that seems to be common to all those awakening.
Then there are the billions of people who have a sense of some form of universal consciousness, but who are captive to the dogma surrounding mainstream religions or other forms of spiritual practice. This entrapment holds them in lower consciousness and prevents them from realizing themselves as omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent beings. It is what Jen Ward calls being trapped in the ‘daisy of death.’ If you are in this predicament, perhaps these writings may give you an opportunity to subtly shift vantage point and reclaim your sovereignty.
Understanding Universal Consciousness
At the heart of existence lies universal consciousness—an infinite field of interconnected energy, often referred to as Source. Think of universal consciousness as a vast ocean, and each of us as waves rising and falling within it. While we may appear separate on the surface, beneath the waves we are all part of the same source. This interconnectedness is the foundation of higher consciousness. When you grasp this truth, you see the world differently. No longer are you an isolated individual struggling for survival; you are a creator, collaborator, and contributor to something much greater than yourself.
I use to word Source and not God quite deliberately to describe this infinite field of interconnected energy. This is because concepts of God in almost all mainstream religions have become utterly tainted and are almost useless as a basis for understanding higher consciousness. In fact, in a lot of ways, mainstream religion and spiritual practices are a core part of the problem that we are seeking to address in the transition to universal empowerment.
With that out of the way, in simple terms, higher consciousness is the awareness that you are more than your physical body, thoughts, and emotions. It’s the understanding that you are an eternal soul—an aspect of an infinite universal energy. From this perspective, life is not confined to one fleeting existence. Instead, it’s an ongoing journey of growth, learning, and contributing to the greater whole.
The realization of yourself as being an eternal soul is profound. We are spiritual beings whose consciousness exists beyond a single incarnated life. Most people alive on Earth right now have had many thousands and even hundreds of thousands of incarnated lives, not all of which have played out on Earth. This realization will be shocking to some who have never contemplated the existence and ramifications of reincarnation.
So what then is the purpose of life? From an individuals perspective, the purpose of life in its incarnated form is to realize yourself as a conscious being in your relationship to all other conscious beings. In more tangible terms, we often describe the idea of living your life of passion in the pursuit of a coherent purpose grounded in a noble intent to uplift some aspect of the broader collective. This idea is completely aligned with the purpose of individual life as realizing yourself as a conscious being in relationship to all other conscious beings.
The purpose of life in its broadest sense is to perceive life from every possible vantage point as a means of moving the collective closer to Source. The reason why you have many incarnated lives is to give you the opportunity to experience life from all vantage points.
The base nature of Source is love. Gratitude and enthusiasm are doorways to higher consciousness, whereas regret and apathy shut down opportunity. And, the journey towards and beyond enlightenment never ends.
These core tenets speak to our identity as spiritual beings that are an aspect of Source having a human experience for the purpose of expanding universal consciousness; and in the process, realizing ourselves as being an aspect of Source by piercing through the veil of separation that descends upon incarnation. Simple, right?
I find it helpful to understand Source and the universe in terms of acquired consciousness rather than an orchestrating intelligence. This understanding is at odds with the ‘intelligent design’ view contained within many mainstream religions. I prefer the acquired consciousness understanding of the origins of the universe because it fits more naturally with the subtleties of the core tenets described earlier in which the purpose of Life is to expand the consciousness of the universe through experiences. It fits more naturally within the notion of free will and the exploration of souls in the universe as part of a pathway back to Source.
The Veil of Separation
World renowned energy healer, Jen Ward, often says that it is more difficult and traumatic to be born than it is to die. Upon death, the soul’s consciousness is passed back to the astral body where it engages in a review process on the astral plane. This is what many new age spiritual practitioners describe as your ‘life between lives’, or ‘the between life review process’ with your spirit guides and soul group. Most people experience this as something that is pleasant and enlightening. It is free from the constraints of the physical realm. And for a period of time, you are plugged back into universal consciousness.
But for the most part, souls are programmed to be reborn to continue the process of expanding universal consciousness. Those who buy into the promise of ‘heaven’ as a place of eternal joy and happiness in the presence of God will find the concept of reincarnation particularly challenging.
Upon being reborn into the physical world, the soul is reintroduced to the laws of physics and limitations of the physical plane of existence. Part of the soul’s consciousness is trapped within the mind of a new body and is separated from the collective consciousness. The veil of separation has once again descended. Perhaps you can understand why this is a very lonely and traumatic experience for a lot of people.
But your job as an incarnated soul is to pierce through the veil of separation, become enlightened, transcend the ego, and experience yourself as an omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent being while maintaining a corporeal form. This is what it means to awaken. Being “woke” is a good thing, not something to be demonized.
Why Higher Consciousness Matters
The world is facing a crisis of disconnection. Wars, inequality, environmental destruction, and spiritual emptiness are symptoms of a deeper problem: humanity has forgotten its interconnected nature. We live as if we are separate from each other, from the planet, and from Source. This illusion of separation has created systems that prioritize greed over compassion, power over collaboration, and fear over love.
Higher consciousness is the antidote. When individuals awaken to their eternal nature and interconnectedness, everything changes. Greed gives way to generosity. Fear transforms into understanding. Division dissolves into unity. This shift doesn’t just benefit the individual—it uplifts humanity as a whole.
Imagine a world where leaders operate from higher consciousness, making decisions not for personal gain but for the collective good. Imagine communities built on cooperation rather than competition. This isn’t a utopian dream; it’s the natural result of a world aligned with higher consciousness.
But here is the thing. As long as the notion of higher consciousness remains an academic exercise in the mind of the reader, nothing will change. World peace starts with you. You are the master of your universe. And when you operate in higher consciousness, your outflowing affects others in a positive way. And then they follow suit, and so on, and so forth. It is the butterfly effect in action.
That is why our work in grounded in energy healing. By healing yourself, you are healing humanity. Our online events are geared towards counteracting negative forces in energy and using energy healing to infuse into the DNA of humanity all of the attributes of higher consciousness.
How to Embody Higher Consciousness
Embracing higher consciousness isn’t something that happens overnight. It’s a journey. It is based in a series of small but meaningful shifts in how you think, feel, and act. Here are some practical ways to start:
1. Recognize the Illusion of Separation
The first step is to acknowledge the truth of your eternal nature and interconnectedness. This isn’t always easy in a world that constantly reinforces the idea of "us versus them." But is is absolutely fundamental to you experiencing joy, love, abundance, freedom, health. and success. Having a private energy healing session with Jen Ward is a great way to understand your past lives and blockages resulting from past life engrams that you carry with you.
2. Live your life with Passion and Purpose
Your passions and talents are not random—they are clues to your purpose. When you align your life with what lights you up, you naturally contribute to the greater good. The more your passion and purpose is aligned around a noble intent to enhance the wellbeing of the collective, the more you are in alignment with your base nature as an eternal soul and an aspect of Source.
3. Operate from Love and Gratitude
Shift your focus from what’s lacking in your life to what’s abundant. Gratitude is a powerful tool for raising your vibration. It is the fuel that keeps your engine running in your perpetual pursuit of passion and purpose.
4. Engage in Collective Healing
One of the most meaningful things you can do both for yourself and to uplift humanity is to regularly participate in our online group events. These group events are doing energy work to heal the collective using the technique of SFT tapping created by world renowned energy healer Jen Ward. More on SFT tapping in another article. But for now, take a look at our extensive library of past group SFT tapping events here. You will quickly realize there is an extensive body of energy work that we have been doing quitely in the background. You are welcome!
A Call to Awaken
Higher consciousness is not reserved for spiritual masters or mystics. It’s available to anyone who is willing to look within and embrace their true nature. As eternal souls, we have the power to transform not only ourselves but also the world around us.
This is your invitation to awaken. To see beyond the illusions of separation. To live with purpose, love, and gratitude. To become a steward of universal consciousness.
The journey may not always be easy, but it is deeply rewarding. And it begins with a single realization: you are not separate. You are not alone. You are part of something infinite, eternal, and beautiful. The essence of higher consciousness is already within you—waiting to be ignited.
With clear eyes and full hearts.
